The International Karate Organization and the Kyokushinkaikan follow the Karate way of building character and training the mind and body to contribute to society, based on Sosai Mas Oyama's Kyokushin spirit "Keep your head low (modesty), eyes high (ambition), mouth shut (serenity); base yourself on filial piety and benefit others."
We in Kyokushin Karate-Do do not promote or practice discrimination or prejudice based on ethnicity, race, nationality, politics, philosophy, religion, sex or age and recognize that everyone has the same rights. Our greatest pursuit is to reach for the goal of international friendship and world peace.
The Asian region is headed by Shihan Peter Chong, the living legend of Kyokushin Karate and is an 8th Dan holder. He is one of the first students of Mas Oyama from the early 60s. He is also a member of the International committee of
of IKO and also the Chairman for Asia and Middle East region. During his younger age he acted in lead role in one of the successful martial arts movies in the 70s.
The Asia Secretary Sensei Steven Foo is the branch chief of Philippines. He is promoting IKO in Philippines and all over the Asian countries. He is also a very good organizer and coordinator of IKO events in different Asian countries including India.
The other official branches in India are headed by Sensei Anand Lal, branch chief of south west Tamilnadu, Sensei Thiagarajan, branch chief of Tamilnadu, Sensei Pransenjit Saha, branch chief of West Bengal, and Sensei Sheikh Nasumudeen, branch chief of Jharkhand. The official branch chiefs and dojo operators are the official committee members of the IKO India association and all the national events like tournaments, and training camps are organized in different parts of the country under this national body.
